Design for fashion...

Argentinean designer Fabiana  Rodríguez, summarizes her 21-year career between Buenos Aires and Los Angeles as an adventure with a happy ending. Meanwhile, she lives of the fruits of her passion in the world of fashion, especially now that some of her designs are part of the line of Material Girl which is the brand of nothing more nor less than Lola’s, the  beautiful daughter of Madonna.

"It’s been such an adventure to travel the world working and growing in an area of my career I couldn’t have ever imagined doing, when I started back in Buenos Aires at an advertising agency. I never thought it would come to this point, into a territory where graphic design is not as common as is the fashion industry. Having her designs become favorites at the famous

Macy's stores is definitely something big.  Most interesting of all is that Fabiana doesn’t know where her designs will be landing until they are already in the stores… "It's very rare, is like an anonymous fame, I work with leading clothing manufacturers in the area of Los Angeles, I’m asked to design certain styles but never really know to who they will be selling the finished product. To see that my designs are part of such important clothing brand definitely fills me with pride, and it’s  super encouraging”. Today I consider myself a complete designer because really, I have done almost everything my career can offer. "

Fabiana graduated from the University of Buenos Aires, back in 1993. Five years later she moved to Los Angeles to expand her horizons and looking forward new opportunities on her career, there were many back and forth between the two cities, but it wasn’t until 2006, she finally landed in Los Angeles for good and that’s when she started her very first steps into the fashion industry. “It was very hard for a former graphic designer like me, with a different background, to adjust to new techniques and learn how to translate designs into fabrics it’s definitely a challenge, but I loved it and I roll with it. It’s been a long way to get where I’m at this moment, and it wasn’t easy. The fashion industry is “non stop”, one always have to be an step ahead, being alert and searching for trends moving forward with the tendencies as they come and go. I’m very grateful to work for the best in the industry, because of that I’m where I’m today.”

Fabiana’s designs have been popping in mayor stores chains nationwide, like Macy’s, Sears, JC Penney, Target, Walmart and many more. Like if this wasn’t enough, Fabiana also manage to design her own line, but surprisingly is not for people, but dogs! OkiDoggy, that’s the name of her company is the summon of years of design which she describes as “a pure expression of my taste and style with my own signature” and I can’t be happier with the results” and she sure is, because, one day she aspires to be as big as Martha Stewart. (Laughs!)

But this isn’t all, this year comes loaded with new opportunities that even includes a TV show, but she prefers to keep it secret, because she doesn’t want to “blow it”.  Another project, she has between hands is about her cooking passion which she shares with her husband Martin Colombo, who happens to be a chef. They have created a blog about healthy food and well being, where they share recipes and tips to simplify the complex world of healthy food bringing a friendly approach to every day cooking!

All we can say, is congrats Fabiana…keep up with the hard work!
